Terre di Canossa

The Terre di Canossa, in the foothills of the Northern Apennine Mountains ranging from Liguria and Lombardy all the way to Tuscany, is characterized by its rich vegetation and and its importance in history. Canossa is best known for being the home of Countess Matilda of Tuscany and for the “Humiliation of Canossa” at Canossa Castle, where Pope Gregory VII was staying as a guest of Matilda. Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV came to seek absolution and the revocation of his excommunication. This historical and geographical heart of Countess Matilda’s fiefdom covers the area in the Apennine hills of a formerly mighty fortified system. This land full of historical places, such as the castles of Canossa and Bianello, are at the heart of Emilia and awaits you to offer many experiences to live and remember forever.

Food Valley

Emilia-Romagna is called Italy’s Food Valley because of its world-known culinary traditions. A true paradise for foodies in search of tradition, authenticity and thoughtful processes that date back to ancient times. The Parma Ham, Culatello, Parmigiano Reggiano, Aceto Balsamico and many more are some of its richest and most savored culinary offerings.  These delicacies can be found in Michelin-rated restaurants as well as in street food. Emilia-Romagna’s food and wine heritage is a reflection of the region’s culture with 19 museums dedicated to food!

“You can’t describe the passion, you can only experience it”, said Enzo Ferrari. This passion for racing and motors runs through the veins of Emilia-Romagna. It is rare to find such a high concentration of car and motorcycle manufacturers, motor racing tracks, museums and collectors in one place. The Motor Valley of Italy is home of brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati, with museums and collections dedicated to the theme. Emilia also is home to race circuits such as Imola or Misano. Discover the Motor Valley through factory visits, test drives in the circuits or in the countryside and visits to museums.
